NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Pelicans have fired coach Alvin Gentry after the club missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. The Pelicans went 30-42 this season. They finished with just two victories in their final eight games. Gentry was hired by former Pelicans general manager Dell Demps after the club fired Monte Williams following the 2014-15 season. New Orleans’ lone playoff appearance with Gentry at the helm came in the 2017-18 season. New Orlans started this season 6-22 and labored through a franchise record 13-game losing streak.
