Troopers Headed to New Orleans to Patrol Mardi Gras

Troopers headed to New Orleans to patrol Mardi Gras this weekend.

Governor John Bel Edwards is sending some 170 State Troopers to New Orleans.

They will supplement those law enforcement officers who are already in the Crescent City.

This weekend will be the busiest heading into the culmination on Fat Tuesday which is coming up next week on March 5th.

The extra troopers will be assigned to the French Quarter and the surrounding nearby areas. They will be focusing on patrols, criminal investigations, crowd control, and traffic control.

This weekends parades will draw huge crowds to the city and extra law enforcement will be needed.

There will be lots of activities including the three biggest weekend parades. Those will be Endymion, Bacchus, and Orpheus.

It’s likely to be a non-stop party atmosphere until midnight next Tuesday.
